Cats on Fire is a nonprofit focused on rescuing animals, promoting spay/neuter programs, and educating communities about the importance of animal welfare. We were thrilled to work on their visual identity, and develop this bright and fun logo.
The themes we worked with were fire, joy, and commitment, to illustrate the NGO's tireless work for the animals they rescue, neuter and foster. While we started out with the name "sapte pisici" (seven cats), the final name of the NGO is "cats on fire".

These were the initial proposals, a flame made of cats, and a circle of seven cats. Took the time to create different personalities for the cats, and also create relationships between the characters.
From the start, our intention was to create a visual communication system that could be used as a whole - the logo- or separately: each cat is its own illustration.
From the start, our intention was to create a visual communication system that could be used as a whole - the logo- or separately: each cat is its own illustration.
For the logo, we decided on the flame design. Carefully illustrated each of the cats, and had a hard time picking our favorite. For the colors, shades of orange create vibrancy in the flame, and the dark spots of the cats help ground the design.
But we also loved the circle idea, and realized it would be useful to have some extra characters to play with in social media posts and future communication.
The Cats on Fire founder based the initial name on her seven cats, and we used them as inspiration for this second batch of characters.
Finally, we developed a small collection of hand drawn elements that could be used as decoration in social media posts.
